Located in the east-central part of the state, the city of Muncie, IN, is the seat of Delaware County and a great gateway for travelers visiting Indiana and wanting to explore the beautiful cities and nature reserves it has to offer. If you are searching for new destinations to go on day trips in your 2022 Kia Seltos, here are three spots you should not miss.

1. Indianapolis

With a population of over two million inhabitants in its metropolitan area, the city of Indianapolis is an important regional hub and one of the most vibrant urban areas in the midwestern United States. With plenty of local landmarks to explore, a vibrant gastronomic scene, and activities going on year-round, it is not surprising that Indianapolis is the most popular urban day trip destination among Muncie locals.

Located about 60 miles southwest of downtown Muncie, Indianapolis can be reached in about one hour by car via route I-69. Some of the local attractions you should check out while exploring the capital and most populous city of the state include the Indiana Statehouse building, the Scottish Rite Cathedral, Indiana World War Memorial Plaza, White River State Park, and the Indianapolis City Market.

2. Mounds State Recreation Area

A beautiful public park located on the eastern shores of Brookville Lake, Mounds State Recreation Area is another fantastic day trip destination that features campgrounds, extensive hiking trails, a sandy beach, and public boat ramps. If you are looking for a quaint destination where you can unwind and spend some time away from the city, this public recreation area is always a great idea.

Home to a wide variety of bird and mammal species, Mounds State Recreation Area is also a well-known destination among wildlife watchers and photographers. Located about 65 miles southeast of the city center, this place can be reached in about one hour and a half by car from the Muncie city center, driving along route US-35.

3. Grand Lake St. Marys State Park

Located right across the state line in western Ohio, Grand Lake St. Marys State Park is another beautiful nature reserve that offers some of the most photogenic sunsets in the region and plenty of opportunities for outdoor sports enthusiasts. Covering an area of a little under 600 acres, this state park was established in 1949 and features a beautiful sandy beach, camping facilities, bike rentals, and numerous hiking and biking trails.
