In order to meet the qualifications to earn a Top Safety Pick award, vehicles must earn “good” ratings in the driver-side small overlap front, moderate overlap front, side, roof strength and head restraint tests, as well as an acceptable or good rating in the passenger-side small overlap front test. The criteria gets more strict for the front crash prevention rating, where it must be advanced or superior. Headlights must be rated as acceptable or good.
