• In early 2019, the redesigned Kia Mohave SUV was previewed in Seoul. Many surmised that the Mohave SUV would make a great platform for a Kia pickup.
• The powerful and pickup-esque Kia Telluride SUV set off even more pickup talk with its release in 2019.

The “Truck-y” Telluride, Transformed

It’s time to brush the rumors aside: Kia has confirmed that a real Kia pickup truck is in development, slated for a 2022 or 2023 release. As it turns out, Kia decided that the Telluride’s blocky form, hard edges, and off-road capability make it the perfect platform for a Kia pickup truck. The new truck will share many of the technology and features that made the Telluride such a popular choice among midsize SUV buyers. Options will include gasoline and diesel engines and a single or double cab to transform some of the Telluride’s 87 cubic feet of cargo space into a pickup bed.
But now for the bad news: according to the Chief Operating Officer of Kia Motors in Australia, the new Telluride-based Kia truck is being released in Australia. So, does Kia make a pickup truck that will one day reach dealerships in Anderson and Fishers? While Kia Motors America has been hesitant to comment about the possibility of a Kia pickup for the US market, it didn’t entirely rule out the possibility.
